Algorand is the first PPoS?

I would like to ask a question / clarity to the Algorand team. Was Algorand the first PPoS? I understand that the first was Nxt and then Blackcoin. Do you have any relevant information? Obviously this question is only to clarify this thing for my thesis work.

I think there is some debate around who was the first to create a true PurePoS consensus based protocol and who was first to call their protocol Pure PoS (without it being correctly PurePoS).

For clarity, with the Algorand blockchain, we state that we are the first public, permissionless PurePoS consensus protocol.
