History of Algorand auctions and importent events on the blockchain

Can anybody briefly summarize the history of ALGO auctions from early days? Are those auctions still ongoing, or were they stopped long ago?

More broadly, could anybody summarize or point me to where I can learn more about the history of tokens added into circulation (auctions, other large transfers - via rewards, for example - to the community, etc.)? Is there any straightforward way to directly search the blockchain for key circulation events as in the above parentheses?
