Rand NFT Rewards - Program III DRAFT Proposal - Q1 2024

Hello everyone !

Rand is excited to share our ALGO NFT Rewards Program III draft proposal with you!

Highlights include:

  • Bi-Weekly Leaderboards! :muscle:
  • Daily Airdrops (1 Algo = 1 Entry!) :parachute:
  • Weekly Meme Contests
  • POAP Creator Competition :people_hugging:

Rand’s campaigns have been redesigned based on community feedback from the last two programs in 2023. We’d be delighted for the community to discuss and provide more feedback on program III before going live at the end of January !

Personally, I find most memes to be terrible. I think that allocation would be better for the daily buy giveaways since more people will be tweeting about Rand and the AF Rewards with a lot less effort involved.

Agree, I think that’s a better allocation.

I would like to see primary sales included in the bi-weekly leaderboard. I know some are concerned about oversaturating the market by encouraging new releases, but I think the market could actually handle more fresh drops.

This probably the best well written out proposal so far. Including the DeFi side.

Will you be allocating some of these funds to XRP side of Rand business? I personally think that would be a great way to push new users from existing XRP projects already using rand to have them open up their first wallet and maybe even look further into Algorand to help push their project dreams over to Algorand.

I would add not everyone wants to buy NFTs or has the money. Memes give a chance to not spend money but your own time to create positive Algorand content. Plus this seems more diverse than any other proposals for NFT rewards. Rather than just reward creators/buyers for a popularity contest.

On another topic, How do you think NFT platforms can gain new users? I haven’t seen much written up about it in the proposals.

The good news is that the community would vote for the best one each week!

This lets more people get creative, engage on twitter with potentially viral level memes, and spread the word that this contest is happening.

It sounds like you have some high meme standards (I must admit I do as well), so I am very much looking forward to seeing what you submit to the contest! :sunglasses:

Thanks for the kind feedback. We spent a considerable amount of time matching the goals of the Algorand Foundation with our experiences to date and the feedback from the community. We will make a separate announcement about XRPL rewards soon with the aim of promoting some positive cross-pollination between chains. However, this won’t be with the funds allocated to us for Program 3. Having said that, Campaign 2 (Daily Airdrops) and Campaign 3 (Weekly Meme Contests) were built to seep into a wider market, and we’re confident this will happen.

Thanks again for the positive feedback. We believe the diversity of our campaign matches the multitude of goals set out by the Algorand Foundation.

Your point about new users is valid. As we briefly discussed in our final report on Program 2, Program 1 in Aug 23 contributed over 1,100,000 more ALGO to the overall market and drove buzz and excitement amongst a wider audience (e.g. AVAX and DappRadar). The Algorand Foundation’s decision to downscale the maximum cap to 35% against market dynamics has attracted broader marketplace participation and temporarily promoted a healthier ecosystem. However, the cobra effect of such a measure is less impact towards the wider NFT ecosystem. Given its market position, Rand can arguably have the most impact if the principal aim of the NFT Rewards is a) more users and b) more volume from other blockchains. In my opinion, adding more resources to Campaign 1 (Bi-Weekly Leaderboards) would drive this quarter’s biggest impact. A budget to market these rewards outside of the ecosystem could also help promote the sheer amount of talent we have within the ecosystem.

Thanks for the feedback!

Our aim with Campaign 3 (Weekly Meme Contests) is to promote UGC to a wider audience on social media. Memes can elicit positive emotions and go viral. And we think they’re fun too! Based on feedback from the community, Campaign 3 replaces the previous social media campaign where collectors were encouraged to post their purchases on X. We think this was a positive step. We’ve also been cautious about allocating the largest budget to the initiatives we believe will drive the most impact towards a) users and b) volume. This is why Campaign 1 (Bi-Weekly Leaderboards) and Campaign 2 (Daily Airdrops) have been allocated 89% of the budget.

Your A and B are great aims to help this ecosystem grow in general. Looking at the sales report you guys are doing 90% of the NFT volume. Which says plenty. I am excited on the crosschain even though I am not an XRP user but see huge potential in anyone doing things similar to Magic Eden.

Id like to add it would be great to see croschain contest. Winning multiple L1 tokens and or winning Algo for XRP users and vice versa. This seems to be very easy things to do that wont cost much money and time. Thanks for your response

is there a good reason why its not something like top 3 for the leaderboards instead of just one? i feel like this means people will have a harder chance of feeling bad because they just got 2nd by a bit and get nothing for it. Ofc those people might have a bigger chance for the daily airdrops but its only a chance

answered below, thanks!

My suggestion for those of us that may never reach the top 5:
Remove that 125 algo from 1st place and spin a wheel every other week of everyone 6th and below and the winner will get the 125a. Help out the little guys.
That’s my 2 cents.
Thanks for listening.

I’m sad your team cut out the meme contest, but it was inevitable. Too many damn bots. So far kudos on the great job.
