Abstract

Develop a “match-2/memory” open-source browser game with scoring that showcases algorand NFT collections. It provides a fun and competitive experience of discovering different algorand NFTs for exisitng or new community members. It can also be used as a tool for giveaways/competitions. In the future we would like to expand this to crosschain platform to help with onboarding new users to algorand NFT scene.

Experience with Algorand

For the last 2 years, we have been building a p2e game on Algorand called Cosmic Champs. We are innovators in the 3d NFT space with our fully animated 3d NFTs that are used in our game and also have utility outside of the game itself (3d viewer, AR viewer).
We have a strong understanding of the NFT space, the technical specifications, and the supporting infrastructure available. This positions us well to deliver a strong product for other Algorand projects to use and benefit from. Try the MVP version of the game here: https://cosmic-match.vercel.app

Present Proposal

This open-source browser “match-2/memory” game will be available for use to anyone in the Algorand community. It is a fun way to ENGAGE a community and to SHOWCASE an NFT collection or a collection of NFTs from different projects (you can fill the tiles with your own NFTs, or randomly with NFTs from different NFT collections). It also adds additional UTILITY to an NFT collection as it allows projects to host competitions for their community, run promotional giveaways, or just to flex their superior art. We will maintain the platform and rotate “spotlight” collections, but as it’s also open-sourced other projects or community will be able to deploy their own version with the customizations they require. Future Blueprint

The platform has huge potential for future development by going cross chain, so it can engage wider blockchain NFT community. It can we updated by adding s simple self-hosted competition/giveaways options for proejcts to gain exposure and to engage new communities.

In the future it can be expanded to support multiple chains, end thus enabling onbloarding new communities.

What additional functionality, features, etc. would be added via this proposal versus what is already in the MVP?

Thanks for the question. Current mvp only has some cosmic champs nfts integrated to showcase how gameplay would look and to give better idea of the visuals and possibility in terms of branding and gamification for each individual NFT project.

We still need to add wallet integration, streamline a way for NFT collections to be added to the platform, sort how NFTs are populated in the game depending if they are in your wallet and if they are in integrated collections, ensure server siide/db data handling e.g. anti-hack measures. It’s important this game is secure, if it is to be used for giveaways and competitions.

then there is documentation that comes with open sourcing it etc.

Lots of work to be done still, but we felt it is important to showcase a MVP so that we aren’t just pitching an idea.

I dont see how persons woould be using this game to explore NFT collections when they can just look them up on asalytic or nftexplorer.

For projects I don’t see why they would use it. It’s not like it sounds that PVP will be built directly into it so how exactly would it work? Something like token distribution of those projects would have to be built into it for playing the game (to make it attractive for people to play it) + a leaderboard (per project + a general one-> so people get competitive).

The idea of incorporating Algorand NFTs into a game is honestly pretty good but I don’t think a simple memory game is the best fit.

It’s a fair point, but the key word here is gamification.

Yes one can look at asalytic or nftexplorer to browse NFTs, but it would be a lot more fun to explore it by playing a “simple” game and potentially getting some rewards for it. Memory game is simple enough that anyone can play imediately, and it also has a very good layout to display 2d pictures, because let’s face it - that’s pretty much what majority of NFTs is.

I can see asalytic integrating this to their page in the future for an example

Are you going to give the NFTs or collections some utilization in your game?

The proposal is for a standalone product it has nothing to do with Cosmic Champs game. We only used our NFT images in the mvp to showcase how it would work. The utility that NFT projects can get from this particular proposal is visbility to a new audience(which we hope we will attract through gamification angle + we’ll use our reach to promote platform) and ability to use the tool to run competitions(every time there is rewards involved you will attract new people, so it can be effective and cheap marketing tool)

slightly off topic but:
For adding utility to other projects in our game, we would do it on individual basis by figuring out how its beneficial for all involved(like for an example how we introduced branded prize bots : Introducing Branded P2E Prize Bots! | by Cosmic Champs | Cosmic Champs | Dec, 2023 | Medium ) - but it is something we wish to explore more in the near future for sure. (e.g. hold nft from partner collection - get benefits in our game, simmilarly to how guest dream quests from mngo work for an example)
